The Alotau Town Market is, so to speak, the center of Alotau, where many agricultural or marine products are brought in from various places in the province. The Project aims to improve and activate local food trade conditions and ultimately increase income earning opportunities for farmers, fishermen and traders in Milne Bay Province, though rehabilitation of Alotau Town Market and Fisheries Facilities which have deteriorated over time.
 
At the conclusion of the rehabilitation work, the market was reopened this August with the attendance of the Right Honourable Prime Minister Marape. In this press tour, in addition to the interview of people using the market, an interview with Mr. Charles Abel, Member from Alotau, who had acted as a deputy prime minister, was also conducted.
