 On Thursday, January 19, a New Year's Greeting Party was held at the Ambassador's official residence for Japanese residents in PNG.
 
 In his New Year's address Ambassador Watanabe mentioned, that this year the momentum for deepening Japan-PNG relations will grow even stronger following the various exchanges between Japan and PNG, such as the meeting between Prime Minister Kishida and Prime Minister Marape last year and that will continue to work along with Japanese residents in PNG to further develop bilateral relations between two countries.
 
 Mr. Okutsu, President of the Japanese Association of PNG and CEO of the Ela Motors, expressed his hope that this year would be a year of great progress for Japanese residents in PNG, as COVID-19 restrictions are being eased worldwide.
 
 On this occasion, Ambassador Watanabe also hosted an Awarding Ceremony for Ambassador Commendation, where he gave commendation to the three Japanese residents: Mr. Ito, the PNG-Japan Association Port Moresby Branch Director, Mr. Kamioka, PNG Japan PNG Branch Manager and Mr. Tomita, Pacific International Director and Daikoku Restaurant Manager in recognition of their many achievements to date in the region.
