Education and students with textbooks and tablets pledge to improve the learning environment and teaching skills
On March 1, Ambassador Watanabe attended a handover ceremony at the Department of Education to present science and mathematics textbooks for primary school and teacher's manuals under the Grant Aid "Economic and Social Development Program" (1.2 billion yen) in FY 2018. Totally 1.84 mil textbooks and 80 thousand teacher`s manuals were printed in Japan, and ditributed to the primary schools all over PNG. Also, he handed over 1,200 tablet-type teacher's manuals procured under a project implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in Japan. Ambassador Watanabe said, "The textbooks are the fruit of cooperation between the two countries, combining the knowledge of the Department of Education in PNG and Japan's long experience and know-how in textbook production. In addition, the tablets made of Japan's ICT technology will be an effective tool to improve teachers' teaching skills. I hope that through such cooperation in the field of education, the friendly relationship between Japan and PNG will be further developed.”
