Signing of the “Project for Economic and Social Development Programme”

H.E. Satoshi Nakajima, Ambassador of Japan to PNG and the Hon, Rimbink Pato, OBE, LLB, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, signed the Exchange of Notes for the execution of the “Project for Economic and Social Development Programme” funded by the Government of Japan under the Japanese Non-Project Grant Aid on 14th August. The Government of Japan extends a grant up to three hundred million Japanese Yen (\300,000,000).
This assistance will bring about great benefits for many communities in PNG where people are severely affected by Climate Change and suffering from shortage of clean and safe fresh water for their livelihood. In addition, this solar powered desalination equipment will also provide electricity to the communities so that the quality of life will be much enhanced and people will secure the basic lifelines even in case of emergencies like natural disasters.
