Handover Ceremony for the FY2023 Grant Aid “Economic and Social Development Programme” (Provision of 60 Police Vehicles)

On August 25, 2026, Ambassador Mochizuki attended the handover ceremony at the National Centre of Excellence in Port Moresby for 60 police vehicles, worth of about 500 million yen, provided under the Grant Aid “Economic and Social Development Programme. 

At the handover ceremony, he stated, “This assistance addresses one of the most pressing needs in the security sector, and we recognize that maintaining peace, security, and public order is fundamental to effective policing. Japan hopes that these vehicles will serve as practical tools to support police officers in their daily duties and, ultimately, contribute to creating safer communities nationwide.
