Send-Off Reception for the 2026 MEXT Embassy-Recommended Scholarship Recipients

Through the process of the Embassy-Recommended MEXT Scholarship Program for the first-half of 2026 (Research), a total of four scholars from Papua New Guinea have been selected. Their departure to Japan being just one month away, Ambassador hosted a send-off reception on 3 March.
During the reception, each scholarship recipient delivered a speech about their aspirations for studying in Japan. Ambassador Mochizuki addressed the scholars, stating, “You all have a vital role to play as bridges between Japan and PNG. Through this program, I hope you will not only deepen your academic knowledge but also immerse yourselves in Japan’s landscapes, cuisine, culture, and history among others. May this experience become a lifelong treasure for you.”
