Welcoming Ceremony for JMSDF Transport Ship Ōsumi Held in Port Moresby

On 5 August, a welcoming ceremony was held in Port Moresby as part of the  Indo-Pacific Deployment 2025 (IPD25), the JMSDF transport ship Osumi .

This deployment aims to enhance the JMSDF’s tactical capabilities through joint exercises and engagements with regional navies, including those operating in the Indo-Pacific. It also seeks to deepen mutual understanding, strengthen trust, and promote cooperation to contribute to regional peace and stability.

A welcome ceremony was attended by Ambassador Mochizuki, Japanese residents, and representatives of the Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF).

Japan remains committed to strengthening partnerships with countries in the region, including Papua New Guinea, toward the realization of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
