This project, implemented through the Grant Assistance for Cultural Grassroots Projects, provides equipment to preserve and utilize a vast collection of analog materials (such as photographs, videos, and audio recordings) stored at the museum by converting them into high-quality digital data.
In his remarks, the Ambassador stated, “Culture tells us where we come from—it is a precious heritage to be passed on to future generations.” He highlighted the importance of Papua New Guinea’s rich cultural diversity and the significance of passing it on to the future generations. Hon. Belden Namah, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, also attended the ceremony and expressed his appreciation for Japan’s support, stating,“This project is a significant step toward ensuring that our nation’s valuable cultural heritage is securely passed on to the next generation.”
