On February 12, 2025, Ambassador Mochizuki visited Manus Province to inspect the fish processing sites operated by the Overseas Fishery Cooperation Foundation of Japan (OFCF) and the National Fisheries Authority (NFA) of Papua New Guinea.
This initiative involves teaching local residents how to produce underutilized fish smoked fish and Nanban-style marinated fish, enabling them to add value and sell these products in local markets, thereby increasing their income. Efforts are currently underway to reduce costs to make these products available at affordable prices.
