On 28 January 2025, Counselor of Cabinet Secretariat Mr. Nishigata visited the PNG Prime Minister's Office to exchange views on the economy, infrastructure, and other areas. CEO of the Japanese company Soramitsu Mr. Takemiya, who was accompanying Mr. Nishigata, gave an overview of the Central Bank's digital currency proof-of-concept experiment.
