On 22 August, Ambassador Watanabe and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tkatchenko exchanged notes regarding two Japanese grant aid projects. The first project is the provision of a fisheries research vessel and an ice machine, which will contribute to the sustainable management of fishery resources.
The second project is the Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) project, in which young PNG government officials will study at Japanese universities. It is expected that they will play a leading roles in PNG after returning home, and contribute to strengthening amicable relations between the two countries as good friends of Japan.
