On 4 June 2024, Ambassador Watanabe attended a handover ceremony for the provision of Japan’s relief goods for the landslide damage in Enga Province. Through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), 250 tents, 1,500 blankets, 25 rolls of plastic sheeting, 1,500 sleeping pads, 5 water purifiers and 250 polyethylene tanks were provided. These relief goods will be delivered to the affected areas by the PNG government.
