On 14 April 2024, Ambassador Watanabe attended a handover ceremony for the provision of Japan’s relief goods for the natural disasters damage in the west part of Papua New Guinea. Through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), 95 tents, 570 blankets, 10 rolls of plastic sheeting, 570 sleeping pads, 8 water purifiers and 400 polyethylene tanks were provided. These relief goods will be delivered to the affected areas by the PNG government.
