Mr. Shinichi Maruo, Chargé d'affaires attended the 80th Anniversary Ceremony of Parachute Insertion to Nadzab in 1943

 On 2 December 2023, Mr. Maruo, Chargé d'affaires, Embassy of Japan attended the 80th Anniversary Ceremony of Parachute Insertion to Nadzab, held by Australia at Nadzab Tomodachi International Airport in Morobe Province. In his remarks, Mr. Maruo expressed his appreciation for the good relations that Japan has with other countries in PNG today, while referring to the historical background of the Japan’s aggression into the Nadzab region. He also noted that the Nadzab Airport, which has a history of war, was renovated by Japan and transformed into the Nadzab Tomodachi Internaitonal Airport, and expressed hope that the airport would be fully utilized as a symbol of friendship.
