On 1 March 2023, the signing ceremony was held for Record of Discussions on the Japanese Technical Cooperation Project for Promotion of Regional Initiative on Solid Waste Management in Pacific Island Countries (JPRISM) Phase 3. Ambassador Watanabe attended the ceremony with Mr. Ravu Frank, City Manager, National Capital District, Mr. Dan Lyanda, Assistant Secretary, Bilateral Branch, Development Cooperation and Management Division, Department of National Planning and Monitoring, Mr. Michael Wau, Director, Renewable Resources, Conservation and Environment Protection Authority, and Mr. Masato Koinuma, Chief Representative, JICA Papua New Guinea office.
This project aims to support for improvement of public open dumpsite at four ULLGs (Kokopo, Goroka, Lae and Alotau) and for development of expansion plan of Baruni Dump site and its implementation.
