Handing-Over Ceremony of vehicles for the establishment of cold chain network funded by Japan through UNICEF

On 31 March, Ambassador Watanabe attended a hand-over ceremony of 30 vehicles, which were provided by Japan through UNICEF, at a transport yard in Port Moresby. Also present were Hon. Jelta Wong, Minister for Health and HIV/AIDS, Dr. Ken Wai, Deputy Secretary of Health, and Dr. Claudes Kamenga, UNICEF Representative of UNICEF Papua New Guinea Office.
 
These vehicles were provided as part of the second phase of support the establishment of the cold chain network, which is worth 5 million USD. They will be distributed to all provinces around the country to support vaccination service delivery through mobile and outreach clinics, and distribution of vaccines to rural and remote communities.
 
In the second phase of the project, refrigerators, incinerators and generators will arrive in the near future. They will contribute to the further improvement of vaccination service.
