Ambassador Watanabe visited a LNG plant of ExxonMobil PNG
2022/3/14

Production and export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) is a main industry in PNG. The PNG LNG project, which is operated by ExxonMobil PNG, is the first LNG project in PNG. The Nippon Papua New Guinea LNG, which is a joint venture of JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration and Marubeni, has a part interest in the project. LNG produced by the project is exported to Asian countries including Japan. The plant to liquefy gas in the project was constructed by Chiyoda and JGC Holdings. For these situations, in order to understand economic trends in PNG, facilities and projects conducted by Japan's corporations, on 9 March 2022, Ambassador Watanabe visited the plant in the outskirts of Port Moresby, and exchanged views with Mr. Peter Larden, Managing Director, ExxonMobil PNG.
